An inline 4 just has a flat monotone, and it'll never sound as good as a V8, regardless of what exhaust is fitted. The V6 / VR6 is a bit better, but still no V8. Lets think about this: 1.8t stock rods - maybe 350 AWHP 2.7t stock rods - 450 awhp +-Now a big v8 - with 8 rods to share in the work for 500 AWHP = only 62+ WHP or 80 CHP per rod).

The RS5 V8, just like the RS4 V8, is a high-revving engine as opposed to the V8 in the S5. Its power comes from the 8500 rpm redline.
