Belts and technology have evolved a lot since the Fiat Twin Cam engine came out in 66' with its 26,000 mile belt change interval (thank goodness!), and now some cars can go a long time before a belt change. On our 2000 A4 1.8T I change it ~ 60,000 miles because of known issues with those engines.
